Break and enter

On December 26, 2013, at 10:16 a.m., the Guelph Police attended to a Bathgate Drive residence to investigate a break and enter. It is alleged that sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. the culprit(s) used a spare key that was located in the mailbox to open the front door.

The residents were home and asleep during this incident. A theft of alcohol is reported.

Drive over 80mg arrest

On December 27, 2013, at 2:49 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Gordon Street South. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Vincent TRAN, 26 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on January 10, 2014.

Theft

On December 25, 2013 at 4:06 p.m., the Guelph Police attended to the Dublin Street United Church on Suffolk Street to investigate a theft. It is alleged that while it was open for a free Christmas dinner, with all members of the community welcome, two video gaming systems and a cell phone was stolen.

Staff at the church did not realize the theft had happened until after the dinner at which time the police were contacted. The value of the theft is approximately $1,000. Staff believes that two unknown males that came to the dinner may have been responsible.

Descriptions:
1 White male, heavy set, dark hair, 18-20 years of age, wearing a multi coloured jacket.

2 White male, slim, brown hair, 18-20 years of age, wearing a ball cap and a dark jacket.

Drug arrest

On December 26, 2013 at 11:40 a.m., the Guelph Police Tactical Response unit attended to a Woodlawn Road East residence for a call for service. During this investigation, officers observed a quantity of Oxycontin in the home.

Further investigation subsequent to this discovery led to police finding a large quantity of marijuana, more Oxycontin pills, hash oil and cash. An estimated total of $7,100 in drugs was seized and a male was arrested.

A 50-year-old Guelph male has been charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He has been held in custody and will appear in bail court on December 27, 2013.
