Drive over 80mg - arrest

On December 28, 2013 at 2:10 a.m., the Guelph Police observed a motor vehicle driving on Quebec Street with its headlights off and a traffic stop was conducted. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

William O'REILLY, 38 years of Riverview, New Brunswick has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on January 17, 2014.

Break and enter

On December 28, 2013 at 3:50 p.m., the Guelph Police attended to the old W.C. Woods building on Arthur Street South to investigate a break and enter. The entry is believed to have occurred sometime between December 23 and December 28. Culprit(s) damaged the front door to gain entry. Considerable property damage inside the building has been reported.

Drive over 80mg - arrest

On December 29, 2013 at 12:59 a.m., the Guelph Police observed a motor vehicle fail to stop for a red light at the Baker Street/Quebec Street intersection. A traffic stop was conducted on Paisley Street.

Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Tyler MOORE, 22 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg, Criminal Code and under the Highway Traffic Act for red light fail to stop and drive under suspension. He was also charged under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with owner operate motor vehicle on a highway - no insurance. He will appear in court on January 10, 2014.

Break and enter

On December 29, 2013 at 11:10 a.m., the Guelph Police attended to a business on Wyndham Street North to investigate a break and enter. The entry is believed to have occurred sometime on December 28. A large quantity of cash is reported stolen.

Weekend R.I.D.E.

Members of the Guelph Police Services conducted R.I.D.E. on Saturday evening, December 28 into the early morning hours of December 29.

In total, approximately 850 vehicles were checked throughout the city and 6 roadside screening tests were conducted. All of the drivers tested registered a pass.

Traffic stop leads to arrest

On December 30, 2013 at 3:16 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop on College Avenue East.

Investigation revealed that the male was breaching two counts of his probation order. Further investigation discovered a small amount of cocaine. A 29-year-old Guelph male has been charged with two counts of breaching his probation and possession of a controlled substance (CDSA). He will appear in bail court on December 30, 2013.

Male with knife - arrest

On December 30, 2013 at 2:58 a.m. the Guelph Police attended to a Huron Street residence to investigate the complaint of a male inside the home with a knife. The male is a resident of the home and it is alleged that he had become agitated and began waving the knife around aggressively. Police were able to arrest the male without incident.

An 18-year-old Guelph male has been charged with weapons dangerous and three counts of breach probation. He will appear in bail court on December 30, 2013.
