Attempt robbery - arrest

On January 17, 2014 at 8:30 p.m., the Guelph Police attended to a variety store located on Willow Road to investigate an attempted robbery. It is alleged that a male entered the store alone and pulled a touque down over his face to conceal his identity from the employees.

He then approached the counter where he advised the clerk that he was robbing them and indicated that he had a gun in his jacket pocket. He then fled the store without any merchandise. He was located by police a short distance away and was arrested.

Brian HOOEY, 52 years of Durham has been charged with attempt robbery, disguise with intent and breach of OIC undertaking. He will appear in court on January 20, 2014.

Stabbing

On January 18, 2014, an altercation between two brothers at an apartment building on Silvercreek Parkway resulted in a 28-year-old Guelph male sustaining stab wounds to the head and hand. He was treated and subsequently discharged from Guelph General Hospital.

A 24-year-old Guelph male was arrested and has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault cause bodily harm, and weapons dangerous. He will appear in court on January 20, 2014.

Impaired drivers arrested

On January 18, 2014 at 1:44 a.m., the Guelph Police observed a motor vehicle driving suspiciously slow and a traffic stop was conducted on Bagot Street. The male driver was spoken to by police and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Geoffrey BARD, 42 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg and impaired driving. He will appear in court on February 25, 2014.

On January 19, 2014 at 8:16 p.m., the Guelph Police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver in the area of Imperial Road and Willow Road. Police located the vehicle and spoke with the female driver. It was determined that she was intoxicated and she was arrested.

Tracy HANNAH, 44 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg and impaired driving. He will appear in court on February 4, 2014.

On January 20, 2014 at 12:00 a.m., the Guelph Police observed a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Wellington Street and Gordon Street. A traffic stop was conducted and the male driver was spoken too. It was determined that he was intoxicated and he was arrested.

Steven Sauve, 37 years of Cambridge has been charged with drive over 80 mg and impaired driving. He was also charged with novice driver BAC above zero under the Highway Traffic Act. He will appear in court on February 7, 2014.

Weekend break and enters

On January 18, 2014 at 6:10 a.m., the Guelph Police attended to a business on Kortright Road West to investigate a break and enter. The rear door had been pried open and a safe is reported stolen.

On January 18, 2014 at 9:49 a.m., the Guelph Police attended to a Wyndham Street South residence to investigate a break and enter. Entry occurred through an unlocked door and a theft of a lap top and PS3 is reported.

On January 19, 2014 at 7:24 p.m., the Guelph Police attended to a Scottsdale Drive business to investigate an attempted break and enter. Culprits smashed a glass window but were unable to gain access.
