Recall - Rayovac Flashlights

This is a joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and Spectrum Brands, Inc.

The date code is printed on a white sticker inside the flashlight's tube.

This recall involves the following models of Rayovac flashlights:

The flashlight battery can overheat and melt the plastic casing, posing a burn hazard. Consumers should stop using the recalled flashlight immediately, remove the batteries, and contact Spectrum Brands for a refund.

Spectrum Brands has received four reports of incidents in the United States involving a total of 12 flashlights, where the recalled flashlights have overheated and melted. No injuries or property damage were reported to Spectrum Brands.

Neither Spectrum Brands nor Health Canada has received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these flashlights.

In Canada, approximately 6,024 units of the ILED2AA and approximately 1,050 units of the BRSELED2AA-BA bearing the relevant date codes were distributed. In the United States, approximately 28,974 units of the ILED2AA and approximately 91,566 units of the BRSELED2AA-BA bearing the relevant date codes were distributed.

Model ILED2AA was distributed from March 2012 to November 2013 in Canada and the United States; and model BRSELED2AA-BA was distributed from January 2012 to October 2013 in Canada and the United States.

The affected product was manufactured in Indonesia and distributed through Spectrum Brands, Inc., Middleton, Wisconsin.
