Perth County OPP Reports - February 10, 2014

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) - On Sunday February 09, 2014 shortly before 7 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to the intersection of Perth Line 26 and Perth Road 112 in Harmony, where a vehicle had crashed into a home.

Investigation revealed that a Ford F150 pickup had been travelling south bound on Perth Road 112. The vehicle drove through the intersection of Perth Line 26, struck a sign and numerous trees, before coming to rest against a home on the South East corner of the intersection.

Both male occupants of the pickup truck were transported to hospital where the driver was treated for minor injuries and the passenger was treated for major injuries. The passenger is a 28 year old London resident.

The driver of the pickup truck was found to have consumed alcohol he was administered two Intoxilyzer Breath Tests which he failed.

Arthur FINNIS (25) of London has been charged with "driving while ability impaired cause bodily harm", and with "driving with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in blood". He will have to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on Monday March 10, 2014 to answer to these charges. He received an automatic 90 day driver's licence suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.



(ST.MARYS, ON) - On Friday February 07, 2014 just before midnight, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers conducting Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) patrol in St.Marys, observed an SUV moving back and forth in the Remax parking lot near the intersection of Queen St. West and Ontario Street.

The officers spoke with the driver and found that he had been drinking alcoholic beverages. The driver failed a roadside breath test and was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville. There he failed two Intoxilyzer Breath Tests.

Bolivar PEREZ VILLANICENCIO (48) of St.Marys has been charged with "driving with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in blood". He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on Monday March 17, 2014 to answer to this charge.



(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) - Between Saturday night and Sunday morning February 8th and 9th 2014, Perth County Ontario Police (OPP) officers in West Perth stopped a large number of drivers during their regular patrols and at RIDE checks. They discovered two alcohol related driving offences.

Shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday night, a car was stopped on Perth Road 180 West of Brodhagen for a traffic violation. The driver of the car was administered a roadside breath test which resulted in a blood alcohol concentration reading between .05 and .08 The 41 year old male driver from Huron Kinloss Twp lost his licence for three days.

Shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, a Dodge pickup truck was stopped for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Line 21 near Cromarty. While the officer was speaking to the driver, a 16 year old male passenger in the vehicle was found to be in possession of several bottles of beer. The youth was charged with "person under 19 years having liquor". In addition to receiving a ticket, his beer was seized.
