Collision

On February 15, 2014 at 4:40 p.m., the Guelph Police went to Victoria Road and Cassino Avenue to investigate a collision. It is alleged that a northbound Hyudai Sonata made a left turn at Cassino Avenue from Victoria Road.

A pick-up truck southbound on Victoria Road struck the passenger side of the Hyundai sending both vehicles through a residential fence at the southwest corner of the intersection.

The two occupants of the Hyundai and four occupants of the pick-up including two children under three years old were taken to the Guelph General Hospital for treatment. All occupants were later released after suffering only minor injuries.

The 44-year-old female driver of the Hyundai has been charged with turn not in safety under the Highway Traffic Act.

Drive over 80mg - arrest

On February 15, 2014 at 1:32 a.m., the Guelph Police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Woolwich Street and a traffic stop was conducted. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Thomas CURTIS, 24 years of Morriston has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on February 25, 2014.

Impaired driver arrested

On February 15, 2014 at 3:38 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the area of the Speedvale Plaza after receiving a report of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle and driver were located a short time later.

The driver was spoken to and subsequently arrested. Michael BOYLE, 54 years of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on March 4, 2014.

Break and enter

On February 15, 2014 at 6:05 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Greengate Road residence to investigate a break and enter. Culprit(s) smashed the front door glass to access the lock and gain entry. The home appeared to be searched by the culprit(s) but no theft is reported.

Downtown arrest

On February 16, 2014 at 1:45 a.m., the Guelph Police observed a disturbance in front of an establishment on MacDonell Street. As police approached, they observed a male punch a staff member in the face.

Police immediately intervened and attempted to arrest the man. He kicked at police as it took multiple officers and staff members to gain control of him and place him under arrest.

James URQUART, 19 years of Guelph has been charged with assault, assault with intent to resist arrest and breach recognizance. He will appear in court on March 7, 2014.
