Assault - arrest

The Guelph Police High School Resource unit began an investigation into an assault that took place at a city bus stop directly in front of an area high school on January 28, 2014. It is alleged that an 18-yearold Guelph male was waiting at the bus stop.

A 22-year-old Guelph male was on the bus that arrived and as he got off the bus, he went to the victim and brandished a knife. The male threatened the victim with the knife and then assaulted the victim by punching him several times.

The two then parted ways but several people contacted police to make them aware of the incident. The investigation led to an arrest on February 14, 2014.

Taylor CLARK, has been charged with assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous. He will appear in court on March 4, 2014.

Assault mother and son arrested

On February 11, 2014, the Guelph Police High School Resource unit began an investigation into an assault that took place at an area high school. It is alleged that a 16-year-old Guelph male assaulted a 15-year-old male while his mother encouraged him to continue. The 15-year-old suffered a concussion and bruising to his face.

On February 18, 2014, the 16-year-old male and his 41-year-old mother were both arrested and charged with assault cause bodily harm. The male will appear in court on March 26, 2014. The female will attend court on March 25, 2014.

Fire at 51 Clairfield Drive

GUELPH, ON, February 19 2014 at 10:45 am, the Guelph Fire Department responded to a reported fire at the above noted location. Units from Clair Rd, Stone Rd, Imperial Rd and Wyndham St stations arrived on the scene and found thick black smoke coming from the second storey window.

Initial fire crew entered the building and proceeded to the second floor where they encountered thick black smoke and high heat conditions.

This fire started in the laundry room around the gas fired drier. The fire spread to the cupboards, the surrounding walls and ceiling. The fire was quickly brought under control and subsequently extinguished.

The home owner was home at the time of the fire. All occupants were out on Firefighters arrival. There were no injuries to occupants or fire crews.

The cause of the fire along with an estimate of damage is still under investigation. Fire Prevention was contacted and is on scene at the time of this report. Also on scene were Guelph Police, GWEMS, Hydro and Union Gas
