Annual Kub Kar Derby Held At Stone Road Mall

Web posted on February 22, 2014

To celebrate the end of Scouts Canada Week, the Cubs Scouts of Wellington County have come together to hold their Annual Kub Kar Derby. As in the past, this year's Derby was hosted by the Stone Road Mall in the lower level starting at 1:00 pm until 3:00pm.

All 164 Kub Kars ready to race

The Derby is not a fundraiser but a fun event that is really than just racing, it promotes a sense of achievement and learning and is a fun and interactive way for youth to make new friends, while discovering the importance of creativity and imagination.

Any Scout from the age of 8 to 10 can build and register in the annual derby. This year 164 Kub Kars registered to compete in the derby. Cubs from all over Wellington County are encouraged to participate in the annual race, either by entering the races or cheering on their favourite kar.

New for this year, the Scouts have added a 'Chief Kub Kar Challanged' to start the day. The Chiefs of Guelph Police (Bryan Larkin), Guelph Fire (Shawn Armstrong) and Guelph-Wellington EMS (Stephen Dewar) have been challenged to three Kub Kar races. The Scouts sent each Chief a Kub Kar kit to assemble and customize for race day.
