Two vehicle collision

On February 21, 2014 at 12:26 p.m., the Guelph Police responded to a two vehicle motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Gordon Street South and Lowes Road. Investigation alleged that a 2012 Dodge pick-up truck, operated by a 46-year-old Guelph resident, struck the rear end of a 2006 Dodge Caravan, operated by a 53-year-old Waterloo resident that was stopped at the intersection.

Neither driver suffered injury but both vehicles had to be towed. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at approximately $15,000. The driver of the pick-up was issued a summons for careless driving. The driver of the Dodge Caravan was issued an Offence Notice for failing to wear his seat belt.

Drive over 80 mg

On February 23, 2014 at 2:46 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Woodlawn Road West. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Thinesh MARUTHAIYINAR, 24 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on March 7, 2014.

Break and enter

On February 21, 2014 at 5:18 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Massey Road business to investigate a break and enter. Culprit(s) entered the business by smashing the front door. Entry occurred sometime between February 20 at 6:00 p.m. and February 21 at 5:00 a.m. No theft is reported in this incident.

Break and enter

On February 21, 2014 at 9:13 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Plymouth Court residence to investigate a break and enter. Culprit(s) entered the home through an unlocked kitchen window sometime overnight while the residents slept. A theft of a laptop is reported.

Robbery still under investigation

On December 20, 2013 at 7:51p.m., the Guelph Police attended to a retail establishment on Woolwich Street at Speedvale Avenue to investigate a robbery. The robbery was committed by two male suspects, one of whom brandished a handgun. An undisclosed amount of money was taken during the commission of the robbery. No one was injured as a result of this incident.

Suspect Descriptors:
Suspect 1: yellow or white construction hardhat, grey winter jacket, dark scarf or bandana covering lower portion of face, blue jeans, black shoes, dark grey knapsack, appears to be Caucasian male.
Suspect 2: Gun: shorter and stockier than the other suspect, red plaid jacket, black ski mask, dark sunglasses, black pants, black shoes with white trim at front, firearm appeared to be black semiautomatic pistol, appears to be Caucasian male
