Perth County OPP Conclude Distracted Driving Campaign

Web posted on March 11, 2014

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), province wide "Distracted Driving Campaign", is now over. The campaign which started on Saturday March 8th ran till Friday night March 10th.

During the first two days of the campaign, Perth County OPP officers have issued nine tickets to drivers who were talking, texting or gaming on their electronic devices while driving. "These drivers actions are of great concern to me.

Despite all the media attention, and the hard evidence proving the deadly consequences of distracted driving, these drivers still feel the need to multi task and place lives in danger." Inspector Steve Porter, Perth County OPP Detachment Commander.

Now is the time to change our behaviour. Put that electronic device aside, don't answer the text and concentrate on driving. Next week (March 18th) the fine for this offence is set to nearly double.
