Impaired driver fails to stop for police

On March 13, 2014 at 1:40 a.m., the Guelph Police observed a vehicle driving erratically. An attempt to stop the vehicle on Edinburgh Road North failed. A second police vehicle coming from the other direction also made an attempt to stop the vehicle but the car drove past that cruiser and turned down London Road.

Vehicle speeds were reported to be between 30-50 km/hr throughout. The vehicle finally stopped in a parking lot on Norwich Street where the male driver was arrested.

A 31-year-old Guelph male has been charged with impaired driving; drive over 80 mg, dangerous driving and flight from police. He has been held in custody and will appear in bail court on March 13, 2014.

Collision leads to impaired arrest

On March 12, 2014 at 11:15 p.m., the Guelph Police investigated a collision at Edinburgh Road and College Avenue. This investigation led to the arrest of a male that had been a driver of one of the vehicles.

Adam RYAN, 24 years of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on March 28, 2014.

St. Patrick Day bus plan

Guelph Transit, in partnership with the Central Students Association, operates several late night routes and a downtown shuttle that provides transit service once regular Guelph Transit service had ended. This free service will be offered on St. Patrick's Day, with shuttle service between downtown and the University Centre, and several late night routes travelling to the residential areas near the University.

The shuttle service to the University Centre from Guelph Central Station will run from 12:30 a.m. to 3:15 a.m., using platform 11 at Guelph Central Station and the GO Transit platform at the University Centre. The late night routes to the outlying areas also use the GO Transit platform at the University Centre. The last bus will leave the University Centre at 3:30 a.m.
