Guelph Police Service Remembers Constable Jennifer Kovach

Today the Guelph Police Service is honoured to fly our flags at half-mast as all of our members wear the Ontario Police Memorial and Kovach 72 pin as a sign of respect and remembrance for our colleague, Constable Jennifer Kovach, who tragically on March 14, 2013 lost her life while serving the citizens of Guelph.

"On behalf of all members of the Guelph Police Service, I would like to extend my sincere thoughts and prayers to the Kovach family as they continue to mourn the loss of Jennifer. We are eternally grateful to the Kovach family, as Jennifer was a dynamic, young officer who was fulfilling her dream serving the citizens of Guelph and did so with excellence," said Chief Bryan Larkin.

The Guelph Police Service would like to extend thanks to our community for the continued support. It is our privilege to serve the city of Guelph and our members are committed to exemplifying our values of PRIDE SERVICE and TRUST.

Police investigate report of a person with a firearm

On March 13, 2014 at 9:34 pm., the Guelph Police Service received the report of a person with a firearm at a Huron Street residence. Uniform members of the Guelph Police Service along with members of the Tactical Response Unit and members of the Investigative Support Service went to this location to investigate. After interviewing numerous people and searching the residence, no firearm was located and no charges were laid.

Theft from cars - arrest

On March 14, 2014 at 2:16 a.m., the Guelph Police were called to the area of Jean Anderson Crescent to investigate a male checking parked cars. Police located and arrested the male on Hayward Crescent.

A 17-year-old Guelph male has been charged with theft under $5,000. He will appear in court on May 7, 2014.
