Web posted on March 17, 2014

Guelph, ON March 17, 2014 River Run Centre and the Guelph Youth Council of the City of Guelph have teamed up again with the support of TD Canada Trust to offer MusicWorks StageWorks, a hands-on mentorship program focused on the art of putting on a professional-style show.

All youth, ages 13 to 19, interested in gaining new skills and taking part in a performance are invited to apply. The mentorship program offers aspiring performers real life experience in concept development, production and stage presence.

Under the guidance of River Run's technical and programming staff and with the support of Guelph Youth Council members, participants will learn about the various aspects of building a successful show, such as, staging, flow, timing, transitions and emceeing. The program is inclusive of music, spoken word, dance and comedy.

Members of the Guelph Youth Council have been actively promoting this performing opportunity through their respective high schools and through various community organizations.

Applications are being accepted by the Guelph Youth Council. Anyone interested in applying should visit guelph.ca/mwswapply or contact jenn,bucci@guelph.ca. The application deadline is Monday, March 24, 2014.

Rehearsals are scheduled in the last two weeks in April and the program will culminate in public performances in the first week of May.
