IMPAIRED DRIVER IN POSSESSION OF COCAINE

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) - On Sunday March 16, 2014, shortly before 2 a.m. a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on routine patrol in Listowel observed a weaving car travelling west bound on Elizabeth St. West.

The officer spoke with the driver of the car and determined that he displayed obvious signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the North Perth OPP Detachment, where he failed two Intoxilyzer Breath tests. The driver was also found to be in possession of cocaine.

Scott MCNAUGHTON ((43) of the Municipality of North Perth has been charged with "driving while ability impaired", and "Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood" contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He has also been charged with "possession of a schedule I substance cocaine" contrary to the controlled drugs and substances act of Canada. He will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Listowel on April 23, 2014 to answer to these charges.

MALE ARRESTED FOR NUMEROUS OFFENCES

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) - On Wednesday March 19, 2014, shortly before 5 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a suspicious car leaving a rural residence along Road 145, north-west of Sebringville.

The car travelled south bound on Road 145 to Hwy 8, where a stopped OPP cruiser signalled for the car to stop. The driver of the car refused to stop and sped up as it attempted to drive around the marked cruiser. The car struck the front of the cruiser, bounced onto a snowbank and became hung up. The male driver ran from the car and was arrested by police after a short foot chase.

Further investigation revealed that the car, a Buick Lesabre had been taken without permission from a Huron County residence. Stolen property was located inside the vehicle and the driver was found to be in possession of cocaine.

Michael MCLAUGHLIN (30) of no fixed address has been charged with 3 counts of "possession of stolen property under $5,000", "drive disqualified", "dangerous operation of a motor vehicle", "flight while pursued by a police officer", and "take motor vehicle without owners consent", contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He has also been charged with "possession of a schedule I substance cocaine" contrary to the controlled drugs and substances act of Canada. He is appearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on Thursday March 20, 2014, for a bail hearing.

DRIVER FOUND TO HAVE BEEN DRINKING

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) - On Wednesday March 19, 2014 shortly after 9:30 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol observed a stopped vehicle on Road 154 near Perth Line 72 east of Atwood.

The officer, while speaking to the female driver determined that the driver displayed signs of intoxication. The driver was arrested at the scene and transported to the Stratford Police Station where she failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

Carissa REDFORD (37) of the Municipality of North Perth is charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences: "Care or control while impaired" and "Care or control over 80 mgs".

She will be appearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Listowel on April 23, 2014, to answer to these charges.

DRIVER FAILS ROADSIDE BREATH TEST

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) - On Thursday March 13, 2014 shortly before 9:30 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were at the scene of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Wallace Ave. South and Line 84.

A driver arrived on the scene with keys to the vehicle involved in the collision, as they were required by the towing company. While speaking to this driver, an OPP officer at the scene detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. The driver was given a roadside breath test which he failed. He also failed two Intoxilyzer Breath Tests at the Wellington OPP Detachment in Teviotdale.

Peter KUBASSEK (54) of Huron East has been charged with "driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood", contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear at the Listowel Court of Justice on April 09, 2014, to answer to this charge.
