DRIVER AIRLIFTED TO HOSPITAL

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) - On Sunday April 06, 2014, shortly before 2:15 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a serious two vehicle collision at the intersection of Perth Road 180 and Line 36 north of Dublin.

Investigation indicated that a Dodge Caravan was travelling south bound on Perth Road 180, when it was T boned by a west bound KIA Soul travelling on Line 36. The 31 year old female driver of the Caravan, a London resident, was transported by air ambulance to a London Hospital with major but non-life threatening injuries.

A one year old female passenger, property seated and strapped in a rear facing child seat, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital as a precaution. The 73 year old female driver of the Kia Soul, a resident of Huron East was also transported by ambulance to a local hospital with minor injuries.

OPP West Region Technical Traffic Investigators attended the scene and are assisting in with the investigation. At present, investigation into the cause of this collision is continuing.

PART THEFTS FROM VEHICLES

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) - On Wednesday April 02, 2014, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers in Listowel were dispatched to STOP 23 AUTO SALES (910 Wallace Ave North, Listowel), where a theft was discovered.

Investigation revealed that sometime between 5 p.m. on Tuesday April 1st, and 8 a.m. on Wednesday April 2nd, unknown person(s) entered onto the auto sales lot and removed two pairs of towing mirrors from two trucks parked in the rear lot.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of the mirrors, having seen used towing mirrors up for sale, or having knowledge as to the person(s) responsible, is requested to contact the Perth County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.

MALE ARRESTED IN HOSPITAL PARKING LOT

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) - On Thursday April 03, 2014, around 12:30 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers observed a suspicious car with its lights on, in the Listowel Memorial Hospital Parking lot. Officers detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on the driver's breath.

The male was administered a roadside breath test, which he failed. He was arrested and transported to the Wellington County OPP Detachment in Teviotdale, where he failed Intoxilyzer breath tests.

Jason SHILLING (29) of the Municipality of North Perth was charged with "care or control of a motor vehicle over 80 mgs of alcohol in blood". He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Listowel on Wednesday April 23, 2014 to answer to this charge. He was also issued a 90 day driver's licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

OFFICER OBSERVES CAR SWERVING

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) - On Wednesday April 02, 2014 shortly before 12:30 a.m. a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol observed a car travelling west bound on Hwy 8, east of Mitchell weaving in its lane. The car was pulled over in Mitchell and the male driver was spoken to.

The officer determined that the driver displayed signs of impairment, and had been drinking alcoholic beverages. The driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville where he failed two Intoxilyzer Breath Tests.

Brian Michael CAOUETTE (32) of Woodstock has been charged with "driving while ability impaired", and "driving with more than 80mg of alcohol in blood". He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on Monday May 05, 2014 to answer to these charges. He also received an automatic 90 day driver's licence suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for 7 days.

VAN WITH 8 OCCUPANTS STOPPED FOR RACING

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Thursday April 03, 2014, around 4 a.m. a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol, observed an extremely fast moving full sized passenger van, on Perth Road 121 south of Millbank.

The van proceeded onto Perth Road 119, Perth Line 56 and drove south on Perth Road 107. Just south of Hampstead the officer was able to lock the van speed on his police radar. The speed registered was, 137 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The van was pulled over in Amulree where the driver was spoken to.

As a result of travelling 57 km/h above the speed limit, the 31 year old male driver from London has been charged with "race a motor vehicle". The driver was unable to produce the necessary documentation for the vehicle and was also charged with "fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle", and "fail to have insurance card". He was issued a summons to appear in Stratford Court on May 13, 2014, where he has to answer to the charges.

His driver's licence was seized and has been returned to the Ministry of Transportation as it is now suspended for seven days. The Ford Econoline Van, registered to a poultry company, was towed from the scene, and has been impounded for 7 days. The driver and the seven passengers contacted a local cab company to transport them from the scene.
