Collision

On April 8, 2014 at 11:28 a.m., the Guelph Police went to Victoria Road and Elizabeth Street to investigate a collision. It is alleged that a red Mitsubishi was travelling eastbound on Elizabeth Street approaching Victoria Road South.

At the same time, a black Ford F150 was travelling southbound on Victoria Road approaching the same intersection. The Ford vehicle collided with the Mitsubishi in the intersection, sending the Mitsubishi into a traffic control standard, before rolling over and coming to rest a short distance away.

The driver of the Mitsubishi was transported to Guelph General Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 44-year-old Fergus male has been charged with red light- fail to stop under the Highway Traffic Act.

Suspicious male

On April 8, 2014, the Guelph Police investigated the report of a suspicious male. It is alleged that at 3:30 p.m., the male began closely following a 17-year-old female on Paisley Road near Alma Street.

The male continued to follow her from Paisley to Silvercreek Parkway where he then began talking to her in an inappropriate way. The female immediately ran off and the male began to walk back down Silvercreek towards Paisley.

The male is described as mid 40's, brown skin; short black/grey hair, 5'8-5'10 and skinny. Wearing a dirty red hoodie, jeans and walking with a limp. He also has a thick, possibly East Indian accent.

Pedestrian struck

On April 8, 2014 at 3:58 p.m., the Guelph Police went to Norfolk Street and Macdonell Street to investigate the report of a pedestrian being struck. The female pedestrian received minor injuries in the collision.

Impaired driver arrest

On April 9, 2014 at 3:00 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on Cork Street. Police spoke with the male driver, determined that he was intoxicated and an arrest was made.

Dean SCREMENTI, 56 years of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on April 25, 2014.

Drug arrest

On April 9, 2014 at 1:20 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle in the area of the Hanlon Expressway and College Avenue. Upon stopping the vehicle, police observed a quantity of drugs visible in the vehicle and the driver was subsequently arrested.

A search of the vehicle was conducted by the Canine unit and revealed further drugs to be hidden in the vehicle. In total, 154 MDMA capsules were seized. The drugs have an estimated street value of $3,080.

Matthew ALTOMARE, 22 years of Toronto has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. He will appear in court on May 20, 2014.
