Downtown drug arrests

On April 11, 2014, at 10:50 a.m., the Guelph Police observed two individuals trafficking prescription medication in the downtown square. Both were arrested and a quantity of cash and oxycodone was seized.

Karen Wade, 47 years of Guelph has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and trafficking a controlled substance under the C.D.S.A. She will appear in court on May 13, 2014. David Hynes, 56 years of Guelph has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and trafficking a controlled substance under the C.D.S.A. He will appear in court on May 13, 2014.

Robbery

On April 12, 2014 at 6:50 p.m., the Guelph Police began an investigation into a robbery that occurred downtown. It is alleged that approximately 10 minutes earlier an unknown male and female started a conversation with the victim near the entranceway to a downtown business. The unknown male choked the victim into unconscious. As the victim was unconscious, the unknown female went through the victim's pockets and stole cash, keys and a bankcard.

Suspect #1
Male White, late 20's - early 30's, 5'8"-5'10", approximately 160lbs-170lbs, short buzzed hair, unshaven face, blue jeans, grey sweatshirt, talked with a slight east coast accent.

Suspect #2
Female White, early 20's, approximately 5'5" with strawberry blonde/red hair. The female did not speak during this incident.

High Speeder on Watson Road

On April 12, 2014 at 8:47 a.m., the Guelph Police were conducting speed enforcement on Watson Road North. Police clocked a motor vehicle at 107km/hr in a posted 50km/hr zone. The area had pedestrians on each side of the road. The 17-yr-old male driver has been charged with speeding, stunting driving and failure to produce his driver's licence.

Window smashed arrest made

On April 12, 2014 at 7:20 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the area of Parker Place to investigate the report of damage to a vehicle. It is alleged that a male youth was observed smashing the driver's side window with a baseball bat as he walked by the vehicle. Police located the male at Waverly Drive School, still holding the bat and he was arrested.

A 16-year-old Guelph male has been charged with mischief to property under $5,000. He will appear in court on June 4, 2014.

Impaired driver arrested

On April 13, 2014 at 10:33 p.m., the Guelph Police received a report of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle was located on Eramosa Road, the female driver spoken too and arrested.

Kayla McKenzie, 18 years of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg. She will appear in court on April 25, 2014.

Bicycles recovered

On April 13, 2014, the Guelph Police Service recovered multiple bicycles in the area of Speedvale Avenue East and Stevenson Street, which are believed to have been stolen. Residents are reminded to always lock up their bikes and to record the serial number of their bicycle in case it is stolen or gets lost. The serial number can usually be located on the underside of the frame of the bicycle.

Break and enter- assault - arrest

On April 14, 2014 at 12:27 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Starwood Drive residence to investigate an assault complaint. It is alleged that minutes earlier a male that is known to the victim forced his way into the home, assaulted the male resident and then left the home. He was located shortly after by police and arrested.

A 43-year-old Guelph male has been charged with break and enter to commit and assault. He has been held in custody and will appear in bail court on April 14, 2014.
