FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(ST.MARYS, ON) - Early Tuesday morning April 15, 2014, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Thames Road and Queen Street West in St.Marys.

Investigation revealed that sometime after midnight, a 2000 Pontiac Montana minivan was driven south on Thames Road. The vehicle crossed Queen St West and struck a parked St.Marys Ford Dealership display vehicle (2014 F350 pickup truck).

The Montana van was extensively damaged while the pickup truck sustained minor damage. The male driver of the van, Grant PEARSON (83) of St.Marys was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Perth County OPP is continuing their investigation into the cause of this collision.

SPRING SNOWFALL BRINGS A RASH OF CRASHES

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) - On Tuesday morning April 15, 2014, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to numerous collisions.

Snow covered roads throughout the county caught motorists off guard. Some had already removed their snow tires while others failed to slow down and drive according to road and weather conditions.

Between 6:30 and 11:00 a.m. officers responded to nine vehicular collisions scattered throughout the County. Three of the crashes involved vehicle rollovers, while five involved vehicles skidding off of roadways but remaining upright in ditches.

One collision involved two vehicles, however damage was found to be minor in nature. Only minimal injuries were reported as part of these nine investigations.
