(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) - On Tuesday April 22, 2014, shortly after 6 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer patrolled Road 130 between Rostock and Brunner when a suspicious male was observed on a rural property. The officer drove onto the property and observed the male jump onto a 6 wheeled ATV and sped off in a high rate of speed.

The ATV proceeded in a southerly direction across numerous fields. The officer kept the ATV in sight as its driver attempted to evade detection. The ATV continued south bound for approximately 13 km. The operator refused to stop for police on numerous occasions and under cover of fog evaded police in a cultivated field south east of Sebringville.

The male operator abandoned the ATV and proceeded on foot into Sebringville. OPP officers with the assistance of the OPP canine unit searched the area in and around Sebringville but were unable to locate the male.

The 6 wheeled green 2011 Polaris Ranger ATV was determined to have been stolen from a residence in the Blyth area sometime between 11 p.m. on Monday April 21, 2014 and 5 a.m. Tuesday April 22, 2014.

The Huron and Perth County OPP are requesting anyone with information about this theft to contact them at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.



(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) - On Sunday April 20, 2014, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol in Listowel, observed a Honda Civic fail to stop for a stop sign on Inkerman St. East at Wallace Ave South.

The driver of the Civic was spoken to by the officer who determined that the male driver displayed signs of impairment, and had consumed alcoholic beverages. The driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and was transported to the OPP detachment in Listowel where he failed two Intoxilyzer Breath Tests.

Christopher COOPER (32) of Kitchener has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences: Driving while ability impaired, Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, Driving while disqualified and Fail to comply with probation order.

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Listowel on May 28, 2014 to answer to these charges. He also received an automatic 90 day driver's licence suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for 45 days (due to the prior drive disqualified charge).
