Male steals two cars - arrested

On April 22, 2014 at 4:28 p.m., the Guelph Police were called to investigate a stolen car from the Willow Road area. The owner of the vehicle advised that a person known to him had taken his keys and his car. It is alleged that this male then drove the car onto the Hanlon Expressway where he lost control and went off the roadway near Paisley Road. A Good Samaritan stopped to assist but the male went past her and got into her vehicle and drove away.

At 5:22 p.m., Port Credit O.P.P. advised that they had the vehicle and the male under arrest in the area of 401 and Dixon Road.

A 39-year-old Guelph male has been held in custody pending a bail hearing in Brampton for charges related to his arrest by O.P.P. He will also have to deal with Guelph charges, two counts of theft of motor vehicle and drive while under suspension under the Highway Traffic Act.

Male claims he was attacked by his cat

On April 23, 2014 at 5:41 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Gordon Street residence to investigate the report of a male screaming for help and a baby screaming. Police arrived to find a male alone in his residence with his cat. He alleges that he had been attacked by his cat. The male had some very minor scratches and the Humane Society was called to remove the animal.

The Guelph Law Enforcement Community "Mall Toll"

Members of the Guelph community who were shopping at Stone Road Mall this past Saturday were asked for donations to help support the Special Olympics. Members of Local Law Enforcement Agencies along with Conestoga Police Foundation Students held a "MALL TOLL" between 9:30a.m. and 4:30p.m. $7,200 was raised.

"This is a great partnership for the Torch Run and Special Olympics Ontario" said Chair (Dave Pringle) of the Guelph Police Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run. "We thank the Stone Road Mall for their ongoing support for this great cause, as well as the Guelph Community who have supported us year after year to help our athletes locally and provincially achieve and reach beyond their goals.
