Drive over 80 mg - arrest

On April 25, 2014 at 8:00 p.m., the Guelph Police attended to the area of Scottsdale Drive and Stone Road for a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area. The Guelph Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Research Lane. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

David LISK, 27years of Waterloo has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on May 6, 2014.


Cyclist injured after fall

On April 26, 2014 at 6:00 p.m., the Guelph Police went to Bennett Street and Lane Street for an injured cyclist call. Investigation determined that a 52-year-old Guelph man was travelling on his bicycle northbound on Bennett Street when he lost control of his bicycle and suffered a fall. The male was transported to Hamilton General Hospital suffering serious head trauma.

Impaired driver driving patrons home from downtown for money arrested

On April 27, 2014, at 3:13 a.m., the Guelph Police located a male in the driver's seat of a motor vehicle on Cork Street East. The male was found to be intoxicated and attempting to illegally drive home patrons from the downtown bar district for compensation. Police arrested the male who became combative with police during the arrest.

Justin KENT, 24 years of Guelph has been charged with impaired care and control, over 80 mg care and control, three counts of assault police and utter threats to cause death under the Criminal Code. He was also charged with pick up passenger for compensation without authority and fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act, and owner operate motor vehicle no insurance under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. He will appear in court on May 13, 2014.


Male arrested after window smashed

On April 27, 2014 at 2:30 a.m., the Guelph Police were flagged down by staff at a downtown drinking establishment. They had apprehended a male that is alleged to have thrown a glass through one of their windows, smashing it. The man was arrested by police.

Daniel COZZARIN, 25 years of Guelph has been charged with mischief under $5,000. He will appear in court on May 27, 2014.
