GEORGETOWN/FERGUS Glenna Smith, Candidate Nomination Committee Chair for WellingtonHalton Hills Conservative Electoral District Association (EDA), today announced that Michael Chong has been acclaimed as the Conservative Party candidate for the next federal general election.

The nomination in the electoral district for the Conservative Party opened earlier this month and it closed April 24th at 5PM. Local party members were notified by the Conservative Party of Canada and, as expected, no one came forward to challenge Michael Chong for the nomination. The local Candidate Nomination Committee consisted of Glenna Smith, Laurie Norrie and Murray Brown.

"Congratulations to Michael Chong. We are so proud to continue to have him represent us," said Smith. "It is great news for the members of the Wellington-Halton Hills EDA and all residents of the riding."

"I would like to thank the members of the nomination committee for their efforts," Smith added.

"I appreciate the support of local Conservatives and look forward to being the Conservative candidate in the next election," said Chong. "I will continue to work hard for all the people of Wellington County and Halton Hills, and look forward to re-earn their support in the next election."
