OPP Arrest Man After 5 People Food Poisoned

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Sunday March 09, 2014, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a male reporting feeling ill after having eaten a meal at a gathering in Mitchell.

Medical tests determined that the male tested positive for THC (the primary intoxicant in Marijuana). Additional individuals at the gathering also experienced physical illness, with medical tests confirming the presence of THC.

Investigation determined that brownies left out for desert were the source of the THC. The individual who brought the brownies was identified. The five victims who consumed and became ill from the brownies were unaware of their contents. All five victims have since recovered.

Colin WOOD (42) of the Municipality of West Perth has been charged with five counts of "administering a noxious thing" contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He has also been charged with "trafficking in a schedule II substance cannabis marijuana under 3 kg", contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on May 05, 2014 to answer to these charges.
