Police cruiser struck

On May 7, 2014 at 10:45 a.m., the Guelph Police went to Woolwich Street to investigate a two-car collision. It is alleged that a Buick sedan driven by a 66-year-old female from Arthur was travelling northbound on Woolwich Street when traffic ahead had come to a stop.

The Buick struck the vehicle in front of it, which had stopped. This vehicle was a fully marked Guelph Police cruiser.

This collision caused significant damage to both vehicles. Both drivers were taken to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Buick has been charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

Shoplifter arrested

On May 7, 2014 at 1:09 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the Old Quebec Street Mall for the report of security fighting with a male. Police investigation alleges that the male had stolen liquor from the LCBO and ran from security when an attempt to arrest him was made.

Jacob PETERSEN, 19 years of New Lowell has been charged with theft under $5,000, assault and escape lawful custody. He will appear in court on June 20, 2014.

Break and enter and Theft

On May 7, 2014 at 9:14 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Waterloo Avenue residence to investigate a break and enter. Culprit(s) entered a locked shed and stole a Trek mountain bike.

Break and enter

On May 7, 2014 at 7:40 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a vacant Victoria Road North residence to investigate a break and enter. Culprit(s) used a ladder to try to access a second floor window. The screen was damaged but no entry was gained.
