OPP Charge Trucker After Two Vehicle Collision

TRUCKER CHARGED AS A RESULT OF CRASH 2014-05-28 (MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Tuesday May 27, 2014, shortly before 11 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a collision involving a tractor trailer and a car on Mitchell Rd. South in front of Erie Meats in LIstowel.

Investigation revealed that a full sized tractor trailer was south bound on Mitchell Rd (Hwy 23), when it slowed and proceeded to make a left turn. A north bound car travelling in the north bound lane of Mitchell Road was struck by the turning truck. The impact caused the car to enter the east ditch where it rolled onto its roof.

The driver of the car, a 56 year old male resident of the Municipality of North Perth sustained minimal injuries. The passenger of the car, a 66 year old male from the Municipality of North Perth sustained minor injuries.

Both men were transported to local hospital for treatment. The 52 year old male driver of the transport truck, a Brampton resident was uninjured.

The driver of the transport truck has been charged with "turn not in safety".

Traffic was routed around the collision scene by means of a single lane for approximately an hour until the debris and damaged vehicles were removed from the roadway.
