THEFT FROM UNLOCKED GARAGE

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) - On Thursday June 12, 2014, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was informed of a theft of sports equipment from an unlocked residential garage on Blake St. East in Listowel.

Investigation revealed that sometime between 11 p.m. Wednesday June 11th and 4 a.m. Thursday June 12th an unknown person(s) entered the unlocked garage. A $600 set of golf clubs and a baseball bag containing $500 worth of ball gear was taken.

Anyone who may have observed suspicious persons carrying large bags along Blake Street east, near Davidson Ave North, or who has other information about this theft, is requested to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or you can contact the North Perth OPP Detachment at (519) 291-1414. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000

Residents are urged to lock their vehicles, garages and homes to avoid these crimes of opportunity.

TRUCKER BLOWS A RED LIGHT AND A ROADSIDE SCREENING DEVICE

(ST.MARY'S, ON) - On Friday June 13, 2014, around 10 a.m. a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer in a low visibility cruiser was observing the flow of traffic at the intersection of Queen St. East and Church St. South in St.Mary's.

The officer observed a fully loaded west bound dump truck on Queen St. East proceed to drive through a red light at the Church St. intersection. The officer pulled over the truck and spoke with the male driver.

The officer detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on the driver's breath and subsequently administered a roadside breath test on the Township of Perth South resident. This resulted in a 3 day loss of his driving privileges and he has been charged with "red light fail to stop".
