UPDATE- JUNE 16, 2014, SERIOUS 2 VEH. COLLISION

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) As a result of Monday's two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 8 and Road 125, one of the drivers has succumbed to injuries sustained.

Kenneth EATON (45) of Stratford, passed away at a London Hospital today.

Investigation revealed that at approximately 6 p.m. Monday June 16, 2014, Mr. EATON was operating a silver Toyota sedan that was travelling east bound in the east bound lane on Hwy 8. When his Toyota neared the intersection of Road 125, it crossed over into the west bound lane where a Chevrolet Blazer was travelling west bound. A frontal collision ensued resulting in extensive damage to both vehicles.

The 38 year old female driver of the Chevrolet Blazer, a Stratford resident, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries following the crash. She has since been released from hospital.

The OPP Western Region Traffic Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and is continuing their investigation into this crash.

THEFT OF TOOLS FROM BARN

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Saturday June 21, 2014, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a rural property along Perth Line 86 east of Molesworth, where a barn was entered.

Investigation revealed that sometime between 10 a.m. on Friday June 20th and 1 p.m. on Saturday June 21st, unknown person(s) cut the pad lock on the barn door and removed tools from inside.

A red coloured "King" generator, a set of air tools and a battery charger were stolen. To gain access to the property the culprit(s) may have used an ATV.

STOLEN PICKUP INVOLVED IN CRASH

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Saturday morning June 21, 2014, shortly before 10:30 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision along Line 87 West of Hwy 23, involving a Chevrolet 2500 4x4 pickup truck that had struck a tree.

An observant citizen observed a young male near the truck and provided police with the male's description. While heading to the collision location, an officer observed this male walking south bound on Hwy 23.

The officer spoke with the male and made additional checks into the ownership of the pickup truck. It was determined that the pickup truck had been stolen from the Town of Arthur and that a business in which the keys to the pickup truck were stored had also been broken into.

Kevin HARPER (22) of the Town of Minto has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences: Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and Break and enter a place, commit an indictable offence

He was held for a bail hearing scheduled for Monday June 23, 2014 in Stratford Court.

Prior to the pickup truck being stolen, an 18 foot, black coloured, "Beaver Tail", utility trailer had been attached to the truck. The trailer, which has not yet been recovered, was carrying a large tank used to coat concrete foundations with tar.

SPEEDER FOUND TO BE IMPAIRED

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Saturday June 21, 2014, shortly after 10 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a fast moving GMC sierra pickup truck travelling east bound on Perth Line 93 north east of Palmerston.

The officer activated the police radar and determined that the truck was travelling 139 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The driver of the truck displayed signs of impairment and was arrested.

Andrey GAWEL (65) of the Town of Minto has been charged with the Criminal Code if Canada offence "driving while ability impaired", and with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act offence of "race a motor vehicle".

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on August 06, 2014 to answer to these charges. His driver's licence has been suspended for seven days and his truck was impounded for a week.
