Guelph Police Reports - June 30, 2014

Man arrested with firearm

On Sunday, June 29th, 2014 at 1:35 a.m., the Guelph Police Service were notified by the Ontario Provincial Police that they had received information that there was a male with a handgun in the area of Watson Parkway and Fleming Drive.

Guelph Police and O.P.P. attended into the area and located a 25 year old male with a handgun at a residence in the area. The male refused to cooperate and the Guelph Police Service Tactics and Rescue Unit attended to the scene. At approx. 4:18 a.m., the male surrendered without incident and was taken to the Guelph General Hospital. The handgun was determined to be a pellet pistol.

The incident is still under investigation.

Noise complaints

Over the course of the weekend, the Guelph Police Service and Guelph By-law Enforcement attended to 41 noise complaints in the city.

Residents are reminded of the City of Guelph Noise Control Bylaw. Residents who contravene the by-law may be issued a warning, may be charged under the Provincial Offences Act, or in extreme cases, may be charged under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Attempt break and enter

On June 27, 2014, the Guelph Police attended to an Edinburgh Road South business to investigate an attempt break and enter. The culprit(s) damaged a door handle, but no entry was gained.

Break and enter

On June 27, 2014, the Guelph Police attended to a Paisley Road residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered a garage and damaged a motor vehicle parked there.
