VEHICLE CRASH RESULT IN IMPAIRED CHARGE

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) - On Tuesday July 01, 2014, shortly before 1 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a single motor vehicle collision on Road 157, North of Line 89 (north of Listowel).

Upon arrival at the scene, officers determined that the Volkswagen Jetta involved in this crash had been travelling north bound on Road 157 when it left the roadway and struck a hydro pole. The male driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and he failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

Ryan SWARTZ (26) of the Township of Perth East has been charged with "driving while ability impaired", and "driving with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in blood". He is to appear at the Listowel Court of Justice on August 06, 2014, to answer to these charges. He was issued a 90 day driver's licence suspension and the vehicle he was operating has been impounded for seven days.

DRIVER AND PASSENGER CHARGED

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Tuesday July 01, 2014, shortly before 6 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers stopped a south bound car on Hwy. 23 north of Mitchell. The driver failed a roadside breath test and was taken to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville, where he also failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

Officers also located marijuana in the vehicle and determined that there were a number of Liquor Licence act violations.

Mark BRADLEY (51) of Central Elgin, the driver of the vehicle, has been charged with the following offences: Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

Diana LEBRINK (44) of the Municipality of West Perth, a passenger in the vehicle, she has been charged with: Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act, and Two Liquor Licence Act offences.

Both charged persons are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on August 18, 2014, to answer to these charges. The driver was issued a 90 day driver's licence suspension and his Mini Cooper has been impounded for 7 days.

BIKE STOLEN FROM UNLOCKED GARAGE

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) - On Monday evening June 30, 2014, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted by a resident of Wood Drive in Listowel, who reported the theft of a bike from their garage.

Investigation revealed that sometime between 10 p.m. on Sunday June 29 2014, and 5:30 p.m. on Monday June 30, 2014, an unknown suspect entered the unlocked man-door of the attached garage and removed a bike from inside.

The bicycle is described as an adult male 56cm, 2011, black and blue coloured, FELT F95 touring road-bike. It had a Cateye Computer, Profile Design T1 Areobars, and Shimano 105 pedals.

Anyone with information about this theft of the whereabouts of the bike is requested to contact the Perth County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000

IMPAIRED E-BIKE OPERATOR

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) - On Friday June 27, 2014, shortly before 9:30 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to Perth Line 36 near Sebringville, where a male on an E-Bike was observed weaving all over the road and falling off his bike.

Police located the male who displayed obvious signs of impairment. The male was arrested and transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville, where he failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

Jerome CONNOLLY (54) of Stratford has been charged with "driving while ability impaired", and "driving with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in blood". He is to appear at the Stratford Court of Justice on July 28, 2014 to answer to these charges. He was issued a 90 day driver's licence suspension.

SPEEDING DRIVERS DISREGARD SAFETY

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) - On Friday June 27, 2014 just before midnight, an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting patrols along Perth Line 32 West of Stratford when a fast moving vehicle was observed.

A vehicle was observed travelling west bound at a high rate of speed. The officer activated the police radar and locked the vehicle in at a speed of 136 km/h. This is 56 km/h above the posted 80 km/h zone.

The vehicle, a Pontiac Sunfire was pulled over and the 18 year old male, a Stratford resident, was issued a summons for "race a motor vehicle". The male is to appear at Stratford Court on July 22, 2014 to answer to this charge.

His driver's licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle has been impounded for a week. The driver and his three teen passengers were picked up by his mother.

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) - On Saturday June 28, 2014, shortly after 10 p.m., a vehicle travelling at an extremely high rate of speed was observed by a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on Perth Line 20 south of Sebringville.

The officer activated the police radar and locked the vehicle in at a speed of 152 km/h., which is 72 km/h above the posted 80 km/h zone. The vehicle, a 2014 Mitsubishi LST was pulled over. The vehicle driver, a 37 year old male from Kitchener was issued a summons for "race a motor vehicle".

The driver is to appear at Stratford Court on August 12, 2014 to answer to this charge. His driver's licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle was towed from the scene and has been impounded for a week.
