22-year-old man dies in industrial accident

On July 3, 2014 at 10:20 a.m., emergency services responded to an industrial accident at Polycon Industries at 65 Independence Place. The 22-year-old man from Cambridge that was involved has died from his injuries. The Ministry of Labour is taking over the investigation. Media inquiries should go through the Ministry.

Cyclist struck by car

On July 3rd, 2014 at 5:00 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the area of the Zehrs Plaza at Clair Road for the report of a cyclist struck by a car. A 10-year-old Guelph male cyclist was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The incident is under investigation.

Hydro pole struck

On July 4th, 2014, the Guelph Police went to the area of Speedvale Avenue and Exhibition Street for the report of a vehicle hitting a hydro pole. The vehicle and driver were located a short distance away.

A 29 year old Guelph man was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

Alleged Voyeurism

On July 4th, 2014 at 1:50 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a residence on Ryde Road for a report of a suspicious male. An adult female resident exited her shower, to see a camera in her bathroom window. She observed a male carrying a pole and running away.

Cyclist struck by truck

On July 4, 2014 at 10:23 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the area of Willow Road and Ferman Drive for the report of a cyclist struck by a truck. It is alleged that the pick-up truck driven by a 46-year-old Guelph man was westbound on Willow Road when the collision occurred. The 16-year-old Guelph male cyclist was taken to Hamilton General hospital with non-life threatening leg and head injuries.

Refuse to provide breath sample - arrest

On July 5, 2014 at 8:51 p.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with an E-bike in the area of the Willow West Mall after receiving information that the driver may be impaired. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He refused to provide a breath sample and was arrested.

Jimmy Angrignon, 49 years of Guelph has been charged with refuse to provide breath sample. He will appear in court on September 2, 2014.

Drive over 80 mg - arrest

On July 6, 2014 at 7:30 p.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop on Edinburgh Road South with a motor vehicle that was speeding. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Jeremy Williams, 29 years of Fergus has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He was also charged with speeding under the Highway Traffic Act. He will appear in court on August 15, 2014.

Impaired driver - arrest

On July 7, 2014 at 1:28 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle in the downtown area after receiving reports that the driver may be impaired. Police spoke with the male and he was arrested. Once at the station he then refused to provide breath samples.

David Chaboyer, 48 years of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving and refuse to provide breath sample. He will appear in court on August 19, 2014.

Theft from cars

Over the weekend the Guelph Police received twelve reports from Guelph residents reporting thefts from their cars. The locations were Amsterdam Crescent, Windsor Street, Alma Street South, Katelynn Drive, Knightswood Boulevard, Whitetail Court, Leacock Avenue, Hawthorne Place, two on Ridgway Avenue and two on Colonial Drive.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars and by keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle.
