Charges against Holistic Spas

Between June 24, 2014 and July 5, 2014, the Guelph Police Service High Enforcement Action Team conducted compliance checks on Holistic Service Spas located in the City of Guelph. The High Enforcement Action Team laid 34 charges under the by-law that totaled $15,850 in fines to both the employees and the owners for a number of violations including fees not listed, services not listed and nudity.

The holistic services are bound by a number of conditions under the City of Guelph By-Law (2009)-18855

The Guelph Police Service is active in monitoring and enforcing by-law compliance within the holistic services establishments licensed by the City of Guelph.

Two youths arrested in stolen car

On July 8, 2014 at 8:06 p.m., the Guelph Police received information that two youths may be in a stolen car in the east end of the city. The vehicle was located in the area of Woodlawn Road and Woolwich Street and a traffic stop was conducted. Investigation discovered that the car had been reported stolen on July 7, 2014. Both male occupants were arrested.

A 16-year-old Guelph male has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000. He is also charged with drive motor vehicle no licence under the Highway Traffic Act. He will appear in court on August 20, 2014.

Break and enter - arrest

On July 9, 2014 at 12:52 a.m., the Guelph Police responded to a glass break alarm at the LCBO store located at 615 Scottsdale Drive. A quick response from nearby officers resulted in one male being taken into custody after a brief foot chase with officers. The investigation is ongoing; however, a quantity of alcohol was seized and returned to the LCBO.

An 18-year-old Guelph male is facing charges of break enter and theft, breach recognizance, possession of stolen property and flight from police. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on July 9, 2014.

Theft from cars

The Guelph Police received six reports from Guelph residents reporting thefts from their cars on July 8, 2014. The locations were Rickson Avenue, Wyndham Street South, Renfrew Place, Kron Drive, Yewholme Drive and on Sheridan Street where the property owner also found damage to their rear patio door handle but no entry to the home was gained.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars and by keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle. Break and enter

On July 8, 2014, at 5:27 p.m., the Guelph Police went to an Elmira Street residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the garage sometime between July 7 at 11:30 p.m. and July 8 at 5:20 p.m. A theft of electronics and tools is reported.

E-Messaging

The Guelph Police Service E-Messaging System, is an automated community notification system that delivers vital information to residents and business owners within the City of Guelph.

The E- Messaging System will send information to a selected geographic area made possible through a community member sign-up webpage. Messages will be prepared and delivered by the Guelph Police Service through email and text messaging. Message types and user delivery profiles can be customized to meet the needs and preferences for each registered community member.

Types of messages
The registration page enables community members to create a user profile, which will specify the message types that the community member wishes to receive. Messages like:
* Information alerts
* Existing Amber alerts
* Missing persons
* Emergency incidents
* Neighbourhood crime alerts
* Threats to school safety
* Public warnings

Registration
Residents and business owners within the city of Guelph who wish to enroll in the E- Messaging System will be required to create a user profile by completing all required fields on the registration form. Your user profile will identify the geographic area where the messages are to be delivered.
