Fireworks and drugs gets youth arrested

On July 12, 2014 at 9:30 p.m., the Guelph Police went to Golfview Park after receiving the report of youths setting off fireworks and smoking drugs. Police located the responsible youths as they set off a firecracker in the park.

Further investigation also discovered that one youth was in possession of marijuana and was breaching a condition of his probation. This male was arrested while the other male was taken home to his parents.

A 15-year-old Guelph male has been charged with possession of a controlled substance (CDSA) and breach probation. He was also charged with discharge firework on city owned lands under the City of Guelph Firework By-law. He will appear in court on September 3, 2014.

Theft from cars

The Guelph Police received five reports from Guelph residents reporting thefts from their cars over the weekend. The locations were Wyndham Street, Flaherty Drive, Mary Street, Manitoba Street and Woodlawn Road West. Police were also called to the area of Lynch Circle Saturday night after a male was observed trying to access cars. No thefts were reported and the male was not located.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars and by keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle. Break and enter

On July 12, 2014, the Guelph Police went to a Ridgeway Avenue residence to investigate an attempt break and enter. The culprit(s) attempted to enter through a bathroom window sometime between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Break and enter

On July 13, 2014, the Guelph Police went to a Silvercreek Parkway apartment to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered through the front door sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The theft of a T.V. and artwork is reported.

On July 13, 2014, the Guelph Police went to a Speedvale Avenue East residence to investigate a break and enter. The resident believed that someone had been in her home and had entered through the side door. No theft is reported.
