Arrest in Lyon Park

On July 17, 2014 at 9:23 p.m., the Guelph Police went to Lyon Park on York Road after receiving a report that a male had a gun. The man was located but no gun was found. Further investigation discovered that he was in possession of morphine and breaching a condition of his probation. The man was arrested.

A 31-year-old Guelph man has been charged with possession of a controlled substance (CDSA) and breach probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on July 18, 2014.

Theft from cars

The Guelph Police received eight reports from Guelph residents reporting thefts from their cars overnight on July 17, 2014. The locations were Morris Street, Camm Crescent, Suffolk Street West, Hilldale Crescent, Brown Street and three on McElderry Road.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars and by keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle. Impaired driver arrested

On July 17, 2014 at 10:45 p.m., the Guelph Police received information that an intoxicated female was going to drive her car. Police located her in the driver's seat in a parking lot on Silvercreek Parkway South. It was determined that she was impaired and she was arrested.

Janet Kirch, 48 years of Burlington has been charged with care and control impaired as well as care and control over 80 mg. She will appear in court on August 5, 2014.

Drug arrest at court house

On July 16, 2014 at 10:45 a.m., the Guelph Police arrested a man that was smoking marihuana at the front of the court house located at 36 Wyndham Street South.

Bradley Hunt, 36 years of Guelph has been charged with possession of a controlled substance (CDSA). He will appear in court on August 19, 2014.

Theft from car

The Guelph Police received a report from a Guelph resident reporting a theft from their car overnight on July 16, 2014. The car was on Kortright Road West and in this case, a rock was thrown through a window to gain entry. A purse and cell phone were stolen.

Man arrested after fleeing from police in stolen vehicle

On July 15, 2014 at 8:57 a.m., the Guelph Police located a stolen motor vehicle travelling on Woolwich Street near London Road. Attempts to conduct a traffic stop failed when the driver began to disobey traffic lights and speed. Police discontinued pursuing the vehicle for public safety reasons.

Further investigation alleges that the male is also responsible for gas drive off thefts from July 13 and July 14. Guelph Police later found the vehicle abandoned on Ontario Street. Continued investigation led to the arrest of the driver on Toronto Street at 4:37 p.m.

A 28-year-old Guelph man has been charged with possession of stolen vehicle over $5,000, dangerous operation of motor vehicle, flight from police, two counts of theft under $5,000 and breach probation.

Theft from cars

The Guelph Police received four reports from Guelph residents reporting thefts from their cars on July 15, 2014. The locations were Ginger Court, Carrington Place, Truesdale Crescent and Elmira Road North.

Break and enter

On July 15, 2014, the Guelph Police went to a Raglan Street residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the screened front porch sometime between July 10 and July 12. A theft is reported.
