Guelph Police Confirm Transition Date For Chief of Police

Guelph Police Services Board (GPSB) Chair, Judy Sorbara confirms that the Board has been actively working on a succession plan to address the departure of Chief Bryan Larkin. The Board has engaged the Waterloo Regional Police Services Board to discuss and finalize a transition date that is in the best interests of both Police Services and communities.

Chief Larkin will officially resign command of the Guelph Police Service on Saturday, August 30, 2014.

"The Guelph Police Service has a strong Senior Leadership Team and they are actively planning for the 2015 Budget process as well as other major operational matters including Safe Semester. This transition date allows our Service to move forward and focus on the future. We are confident that the Service is well aligned to meet the future demands, and we will putting an interim succession plan in place" said Judy Sorbara, Chair of the Board.

The GPSB will be holding a Special Meeting in August to finalize an interim succession plan. Details of the meeting will be announced in the near future.
