WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP KEPT BUSY WITH LLA CHARGES

(WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON) Members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were kept busy over the weekend with numerous individuals being charged under the Liquor Licence Act (LLA).

26 LLA tickets were issued between July 22, 2014 and July 24, 2014. Offences were found as a result of R.I.D.E checks, traffic stops, proactive marine patrol and public complaints. Several of the infractions involved the individuals having liquor in open containers in other than licences premise, residence or private places. Wellington County OPP also charged several individuals in relation to having open liquor in a vehicle as well as open liquor on a boat.

With the long weekend approaching Wellington County OPP would like to remind everyone to drink responsibly and plan ahead. Officers will be conducting R.I.D.E checks throughout the county as well as conducting marine patrol.

GUELPH WOMAN CHARGED WITH OVER 80 MGS

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) On July 25, 2014 at approximately 8:11 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Wellington Road 29 near the Guelph-Eramosa/Garafraxa Townline in Centre Wellington Township.

Officers investigated the driver of a 2003 Toyota that they observed pull over to the side of the road prior to entering the R.I.D.E. program. Upon speaking with the driver police determined that she had been drinking. She was administered a Roadside Screening Device test which resulted in a fail.

The Administrative Drivers' Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and her motor vehicle impounded for seven days.

Julie LLOYD aged 48 of Guelph has been charged with Over 80 MGS contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. She is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on September 16, 2014 to answer to the charge.

FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION CLOSES HIGHWAY 6 SOUTH OF FERGUS

(FERGUS, ON) On July 31, 2014 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a serious collision involving two vehicles on Highway 6, just south of Fergus.

Officers responded along with Guelph-Wellington Emergency Services (EMS) and the Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue. One person was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The cause of the collision is currently being investigated and the Wellington County OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) have been called to assist. Highway 6, between Second Line and Fourth Line remains closed while the investigation continues and is expected to remain closed for four to five hours.

ELORA MAN CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED AND POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) On July 31, 2014 at approximately 12:45 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of an Oldsmobile Alero that was travelling on St. Andrews Street West near Colquhoun Street in Fergus, Centre Wellington Township.

Upon speaking with the driver police determined that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drug. The male was searched incident to arrest and a small quantity of marijuana was seized.

The Administrative Drivers' Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle impounded for seven days.

Alex KRAEMER aged 20 of Elora has been charged with Impaired Driving contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Possession of Marijuana Under 30 Grams. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on September 14, 2014 to answer to the charges.
