Library Fundraiser Looking for Donations

Web posted on August 04, 2014

Friends of the Guelph Public Library are busy preparing for their 8th annual Giant Book Sale to be held from Friday, October 17 to Sunday, October 19, 2014. This year the sale takes place at the former White Rose/Meadowville Nursery at 265 Edinburgh Road North, complete with extensive sale space, convenient bus route access, and free parking.

Community members are invited to donate clean, gently-used books, educational, and entertainment items to the sale. Last year there were 75,000 items for sale. In addition to hardcover, paperback, and children's books, donations of entertainment media (CDs, DVDs, LPs, videos), puzzles, games, and sheet music are welcome. Encyclopedias, National Geographic, general interest magazines, and Reader's Digest condensed publications are not accepted.

There are two ways to donate. Starting August 6, donors are encouraged to bring their boxed contributions during regular business hours to any branch of the Guelph Public Library. Or, donations can also be made directly to the former White Rose building at 265 Edinburgh Road North any day from 2:00-5:00pm. Donations will no longer be accepted for this year's sale after October 7, 2014.

For more information, visit the Friends of the Guelph Public Library site.

The Friends, a group of community volunteers, are committed to supporting the Guelph Public Library through advocacy and special programs. Proceeds of approximately $200,000 from earlier sales have been invested with the Guelph Community Foundation for Friends' projects to serve children and young adults in the new main library.
