Sudden death

On August 10, 2014, emergency personnel from Guelph Police, GFD and GWEMS went to an address in the south end of Guelph in response to a male found unresponsive in a swimming pool. He was transported to hospital where the 19-year-old Thornhill man was later pronounced deceased. Police do not believe the circumstances to be suspicious.

Man damages cars and gets arrested

On August 10, 2014 at 3:14 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the parking lot of a Silvercreek apartment building for the report of a man punching and kicking cars. The man was located and he was arrested.

Tyler Beaton, 19 years of Guelph has been charged with two counts of mischief under $5,000, resist peace officer and public intoxication under the Liquor Licence Act. He will appear in court on September 16, 2014.

Traffic stop leads to three arrests

On August 8, 2014 at 2:44 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on Woodlawn Road East. The three occupants were arrested when police observed a quantity of drugs in the car. A search subsequent to the arrests discovered more drugs and a pellet gun. Further investigation determined the plates on the vehicle had been stolen.

Abdullah Alghanim, 18 years of Guelph has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property and two counts of possession of a controlled substance (CDSA). He will appear in court on August 11, 2014.

Khalil Ghoosi, 19 years of Guelph has been charged with weapons dangerous, breach recognizance, breach probation and two counts of possession of a controlled substance (CDSA). He will appear in court on August 11, 2014.

Tatjana Moffat, 18 years of Guelph has been charged with breach probation and two counts of possession of a controlled substance (CDSA). She will appear in court on August 26, 2014.

Mischief arrest

On August 10, 2014 at 4:12 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the parking lot at Willow West Mall for the complaint that a man rammed his vehicle into another car on purpose. Police investigation led to the arrest of the male.

Jeremy Gauthier, 55 years of Guelph has been charged with mischief under $5,000. He will appear in court on September 16, 2014.

Break and enter

On August 10, 2014 at 7:44 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Kathleen Street residence to investigate a break and enter. Sometime overnight, the front porch window screen had been cut to gain entry. It is unknown if a theft occurred.

Theft from cars

Over the weekend, the Guelph Police received six reports from Guelph residents reporting thefts from their cars. The locations were Zaduk Place, Marilyn Drive, Woodlawn Road East, Columbus Crescent and two on Metcalfe Street..

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars and by keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle. Drive over 80 mg - arrest

On August 8, 2014 at 12:50 a.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a possible impaired driver. Police located the car on Clair Road. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Lawrence Kemp, 40 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on August 19, 2014.
