South Wellington OPP Reports - July 20, 2015

BREAK AND ENTER TO AUTO SHOPS IN PUSLINCH

(PUSLINCH TOWNSHIP, ON) On July 15, 2015 at approximately 5:21 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended Inline Auto Works located on Queen Street, Puslinch Township for a break and enter.

Unknown suspect(s) forced their way into the business by smashing a glass door which activated the alarm. An attempt was made to gain entry to the office area but was unsuccessful. Nothing was reported stolen.

Along with this crime, a 2002 Lincoln that was parked in the lot near the business had its windshield broken.

Police attended a second break and enter shortly before 7:00 a.m. on July 15, 2015 at Hayden's Garage located on Brock Road, Puslinch Township. It is believed to have occurred sometime overnight from 6:30 p.m. to 6:50 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) forced their entry through the front door to get to the office area. Nothing was reported stolen.

DUMP TRUCK COLLIDES WITH HYDRO POLE

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) - On July 16, 2015 at approximately 11:26 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a dump truck and a hydro pole on Wellington Road 39 just north of Wellington Road 30, Guelph-Eramosa Township.

Investigation revealed that a dump truck travelling southbound on Wellington Road 39 left the roadway and entered the west ditch. It then crossed over to the east ditch and struck a hydro pole.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the collision. The damage to the pole has caused a disruption to power in the area and a Hydro One crew is on scene working to restore power.

Wellington Road 39 between Wellington Road 30 and Wellington Road 51 will remain closed for approximately five to six hours. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

RACING CHARGE

(PUSLINCH TOWNSHIP, ON) On July 10, 2015 at approximately 11:59 a.m., an officer from the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting radar enforcement and monitoring traffic on Laird Road near Downey Road, Puslinch Township.

A female driving a 2010 Toyota was observed well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at approximately 121 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. Her driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of 7 days as per statute.

Charged is 26-year-old Tam NGUYEN of Guelph has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. She is to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on August 19, 2015 to answer the charge.

RACING CHARGE

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) On July 14, 2015 at approximately 8:27 p.m., an officer from the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting radar enforcement and monitoring traffic on Eastview Road near Davis Street, Guelph-Eramosa Township.

A male driving a 1999 Toyota was observed well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at approximately 120 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of 7 days as per statute.

22-year-old Andrew PROUM of Guelph has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on September 2, 2015 to answer the charge.
