Food Recall - PC Brand Ginger Cookie Chips

Ottawa, November 2015 - Loblaw Companies Limited (Loblaw) is recalling President's Choice brand Ginger Cookie Chips from the marketplace because it may contain peanut which is not declared on the label. People with an allergy to peanut should not consume the recalled product described below.

The affected product has been sold in the following Loblaw banner stores:

Ontario: Fortinos, Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, Valu-Mart, Your Independent Grocer, Zehrs and affiliated independent stores

Atlantic: Atlantic Superstore, Dominion, Your Independent Grocer and affiliated independent stores

Qubec: Loblaws, Maxi, Maxi & Cie, Provigo and affiliated independent stores

West: Extra Foods, Real Canadian Superstore, Your Independent Grocer, Wholesale Club and affiliated independent stores

Check to see if you have recalled products in your home. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.

There have been no reported reactions associated with the consumption of this product. If you have an allergy to peanut, do not consume the recalled product as it may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction.

This recall was triggered by the company. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. If other high-risk products are recalled, the CFIA will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings.

The CFIA is verifying that industry is removing recalled product from the marketplace.
