OVERNIGHT THEFT OF TRANSPORT TRUCK FROM NORTH PERTH

(NORTH PERTH, ON) On Sunday February 12, 2017 shortly before 11:00 p.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was notified of an attempted theft of a transport truck and trailer from a business on Tremaine Avenue South in the Municipality of North Perth.

The theft had been interrupted by a witness who had observed suspicious activity around the truck. The suspects fled the area southbound on Tremaine Ave South in a newer silver Ford F150 4-door pick-up truck.

Suspects then stole a white 2010 Freightliner transport truck and a white refrigerated trailer that was loaded with eggs from the same area and during the same approximate time frame. Total value of this theft is estimated to be $150,000.

On Monday February 13, 2017, shortly before 4:00 a.m., Perth County OPP was notified of two transport trucks that had been located in a rural area on Perth Line 80 in the Municipality of North Perth. Through investigation it was determined that these transport trucks were stolen from Waterloo Region.

The investigation into these three incidents is ongoing.

RIDE PROGRAM NABS ANOTHER IMPAIRED DRIVER

(NORTH PERTH, ON) On Friday February 10, 2017, shortly after 8:00 p.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members were conducting a RIDE program at the intersection of Kincaid Street and Nelson Avenue South in the Municipality of North Perth.

A blue Dodge pick-up truck entered the RIDE program and was checked. Upon speaking to the driver, the officer smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver's breath and saw signs of impairment.

The driver was placed under arrest for operating motor vehicle while impaired. He was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in North Perth for breath tests. He later provided samples of his breath into an Intoxilizer and registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 41-year-old Bradley HAYTER from North Perth has been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was released from custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Perth on March 8, 2017. He also received a 90-day driver's licence suspension and the truck was seized for 7 days.

OVERNIGHT BREAK IN TO BUSINESS ON LINE 26 (PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Wednesday February 8, 2017 shortly after 2:00 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an alarm at D & S Downham Equipment on Line 26 in the Township of Perth South.

Through the course of investigation, it was determined that suspect(s) attended the business and forcibly gained entry into the front showroom. Once inside, suspect(s) removed seven (7) Husqvarna chainsaws, two (2) Karcher pressure washers, two (2) Husqvarna leaf blowers, a Husqvarna push lawnmower and a Husqvarna 12.5 cubic foot dump trailer.

The value of the theft is estimated to be approximately $7,900 dollars.

The Perth County OPP is continuing to investigate this theft.
