AGGRESSIVE DRIVING RESULTS IN CARELESS CHARGE

(PERTH EAST, ON) - On Saturday March 11, 2017 Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of an aggressive driver on Perth Road 119 south of the Town of Milverton.

The driver of a silver Mitsubishi car had been tailgating a fully marked Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) pick up that had been southbound on Perth Road 119 and then passed it at a high rate of speed.

The MNR vehicle was then forced to brake to allow the car back into the lane to avoid a collision from occurring with another vehicle that had been oncoming. The Mitsubishi car was located shortly after and 21 year-old Johan BERG-THIESSEN of North Perth was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

ONGOING MAILBOX VANDALISM

(PERTH SOUTH, ON) -Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) wants to advise of several incidents of mailbox vandalism which have occurred in the County recently.

On February 22, 2017 a mailbox was reported damaged overnight on Line 46 in Municipality of West Perth.

On March 1, 2017 another mailbox was reported damaged overnight on Line 15 in the Township of Perth South.

On March 8, 2017 multiple mailboxes were reported damaged overnight on the Perth Oxford Road and on Perth Road 115 in the Township of Perth South.

The Perth County OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122 or (519) 393-6123. Should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a secure web-tip at http://www.pc-crimestoppers.ca/, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.

The OPP is asking residents to be vigilant in recognizing suspicious people or vehicles that are in your neighborhoods. It is important for this information to get to police when the suspects may still be in the area.

OPP DRUG WARRANTS EXECUTED IN TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) - On Thursday, March 9, 2017, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) - Drug Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), Perth County OPP and Stratford Police Service executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence located on Road 119, in the Township of Perth East, Perth County, Ontario.

As a result of the execution of the first search warrant, police seized methamphetamine, cocaine, suboxone pills, and cannabis marihuana. The estimated, combined street value of the seized controlled substances is $17,750.

Police also seized offence related property that consisted of drug trafficking paraphernalia and $3,050 cash.

Jamie WEBER, 56 years of age from Perth East and Annmarie WEBER, 56 years of age from Perth East are charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Suboxone and Marihuana for the Purposes of Trafficking. They are both also charged with Possession of Cocaine.

Paul FULLER, 45 years of age from Perth East and Shaelyn FOWLER, 24 years of age from Stratford are both charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purposes of Trafficking.

All four remain in custody with bail hearings scheduled for today at the Ontario Court of Justice - Stratford.

SCHOOL BUS INVOLVED IN COLLISION

(TOWN OF ST MARYS, ON) - On Friday March 3, 2017 shortly after 3:30 p.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of a collision involving a school bus and a Volkswagen car at the intersection of Wellington Street North and Parkview Drive in the Town of St Marys.

Investigation determined that the bus driver had made a left hand turn onto Parkside Drive and struck a motor vehicle that was stopped at the intersection. There were students on the bus, but there were no injuries were reported. The students were loaded onto another bus and transported home.

The driver of the bus, 59 year-old Richard KENNEDY of St Marys was charged with turn not in safety contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
