Vehicle collision

On Tuesday April 11, 2017 at approx. 11:40 am Guelph Police, Fire and Guelph Wellington EMS responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Clair Rd and Gordon St. Investigation revealed that a southbound vehicle being operated by a 31 year old female from Hamilton failed to stop for a red light and her vehicle was struck on the driver's side door by a southbound cargo in the intersection.

Guelph Fire had to use the `Jaws of Life' to extract the female driver from her car. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and the female driver was transported to hospital for treatment of her injuries. The female driver from Hamilton has been charged with red light- fail to stop and will appear in traffic court in June.


Theft of clothes dryer

A north end business contacted police just before 4pm on April 11th after two men came into the store, loaded up a full sized white clothes dryer in the back of a dark newer model Ford pick-up truck and drove away quickly without paying for it. The truck was last seen driving away eastbound on Woodlawn Road. Police are investigating.

Suspended driver further charged

At approximately 6:30pm on April 11th, patrol officers observed a U-Haul van being driven in the area of Imperial Road by a male that was known to be suspended from operating a motor vehicle. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested.

Further investigation learned that the U-Haul had been taken without consent and after a search, the male was found to be in possession of stolen property, break-in tools and a quantity of drugs believed to be methamphetamine.

A 28 year old Guelph man is charged a total of 13 property, drug, driving and breach of probation charges. He was held in custody to appear in bail court.


Suspect approaches police and arrested

On April 9th, the manager of a Grange Road business was assaulted by a young man when he confronted him as he tried to fraudulently return merchandise. The manager was not physically injured and provided a detailed description of the suspect to police.

On the morning of April 11th, police were investigating an unrelated incident at a Carden Street apartment building when a male walked up and started asking questions about the incident on behalf of a `friend'. During the conversation, the officer realized that this male was actually the wanted suspect and he was arrested.

The 17 year old Guelph youth was charged with assault, attempt fraud and breach of probation. He was held in custody to appear in bail court.


Theft from vehicles

For the second night in a row, there were thefts from four vehicles in different locations around the city. Last night the thefts occurred on Dominion Drive, Hilldale Crescent, Wilkie Crescent and McArthur Crescent. Personal items of property and credit cards were stolen.
