(ST. MARYS, ON) - On Wednesday May 31, 2017 between 7:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. the Town of St. Marys will be conducting an emergency services exercise near the corner of James Street North and Station Street. Several agencies will be participating in this event including the Town of St. Marys, St. Marys Fire Department, Perth Paramedic Services, St John Ambulance and Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). There will also be participation by high school students from St. Marys District Collegiate and Vocational Institute (DCVI).

This event will allow stakeholders to participate and work cooperatively in a real life emergency situation. The media are encouraged to attend the event and are asked to meet on the foot path area near the trestle in the Trout Creek Park area. There will also be a viewing area for the public nearby in the park. Parking for media and members of the public will be available in the lot off St. George Street North and on Widder Street East.

Station Street and the section of James Street North between Egan Avenue and Widder Street East will be closed during the exercise. Motorists should be aware that this exercise may interfere with traffic and plan alternate routes to avoid delays. A detour route will be in place to assist motorists.
