Robbery

On Monday, July 24, 2017 at 4:21pm Guelph Police were called to a convenience store near the intersection of Victoria and York, where there was a report of a robbery. A lone male entered the store on York Road business and told the clerk he had a weapon in his pocket. Without ever showing the weapon, he demanded cash and cigarettes from the clerk.

The male then fled on foot and was last seen running westbound on York Road just west of Victoria Road.

The male is described as caucasian, 5'9", 165lbs, having a scruffy beard. The male was wearing a black baseball cap and a blue/black/brown long sleeve lumber jacket, black pants and black shoes. The male did leave with an item from the store and an undisclosed amount of cash.

There are no injuries as a result of this incident.

Sexual Assault Update

Accused- Brandy Pierce

Guelph Police Service confirms Mr. Peirce was a Scout Leader in Guelph for a number of years.

The Guelph Police Service have been in contact with Scouts Canada regarding this investigation.

The alleged offences were not committed in Mr. Peirce's position as a Scout Leader.

Break and enter suspects arrested

Just after 7am on July 24th, an Arthur Street resident found a female in the dining room of the home who then ran out a back door when discovered. The resident ran after the female, apprehended her in a back yard and held her until police arrived.

The female was found to be in possession of property from Arthur Street, Yarmouth Street and Surrey Street break and enters that occurred within a few hours previous.

The 21 year old female from Guelph was charged with a total of 13 offences including break- and enter, possession of stolen property, assault and breach of recognizance.

Further investigation led to the identification of a second male later in the day who used a stolen credit card from one of those break-ins at businesses on Speedvale Avenue and Eramosa Road. The 39 year old Guelph suspect was located in the downtown at approximately 2:30pm and was arrested by police still in possession of property from one of the break-ins.

He is charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property, two counts of unauthorized use of a credit card and three counts of breach of recognizance.

Both were held in custody to appear in bail court later today.
