DRUNK DRIVER CHARGED

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On Tuesday August 15, 2017 at approximately 9:00 p.m. a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer located the subject of a traffic complaint on Garafraxa Street, Fergus.

While speaking with the driver the officer observed signs of impairment by alcohol. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

50-year-old James K. MacGILLIVARY of Guelph has been charged with Over 80 and Drive Motor Vehicle while Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on September 29, 2017 to answer to the charge.

DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED BY DRUG

While speaking with the driver the officer observed signs of impairment by drug. A Drug Recognition Evaluator confirmed the driver was impaired by drugs.

25-year-old Jeffery John Cameron RIDER of Guelph has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle while Impaired by Drug contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on September 29, 2017 to answer to the charge.

VEHICLE ENTRY WITH THEFT

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On Saturday August 5, 2017 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle that had been entered overnight on Holman Crescent, Fergus.

Suspect(s) entered the vehicle sometime overnight on August 4, 2017 through to August 5, 2017 and stole loose change, a Motorola blue tooth, a Kenwood stereo remote and a bottle of cologne.

Any person with information regarding this or any other criminal activity should contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a tip on-line at www.csgw.tips. You may be eligible for a reward from Crime Stoppers of up to $2,000.

To help prevent future incidents, the OPP would like to remind everyone about the LOCK IT OR LOSE IT campaign. It is a crime prevention program that reminds the public to lock their vehicles and remove any valuables and keys from within. This helps reduce the motivation and likelihood of property crimes. If you do suspect that your vehicle has been entered please report it.
