8 new homes under construction damaged

On August 26, 2017, at 11:18 PM Guelph Police were dispatched to the area of McCann Street Guelph with regard to several suspicious males. Officers arrived and found that 8 new homes under construction on McCallister Street and Ambros Street had numerous windows smashed.

The Guelph Police K-9 team was dispatched to the area and they located one male and he was arrested.

Damage to the homes was estimated over $5000.00.

A 15-year-old Guelph male was charged with Mischief to Property over $5000.00 and will appear in Youth Court in October.


Male Arrested Theft from vehicle

On August 28, 2017, at 1:28 AM Guelph Police were dispatched to the Westwood Road area for the report that a male had entered a car and stole a GPS. Police located the male a short distance away and he was arrested.

A 15-year-old Guelph male has been charged with theft under $5000. He will appear in court in September.


Drive over 80-arrest

On August 26, 2017, at 5:55 PM Guelph Police received a call from a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver on Industrial Street Guelph. Officers quickly responded to the area, stopped the vehicle and a roadside screening device was used.

A 49-year-old Guelph male was charged with Drive over 80 and will appear in court in September.


Concerned citizen calls in a suspicious vehicle-Driver arrested.

On August 27, 2017, at 1:56 PM, a concerned citizen contacted the Guelph Police Service about a suspicious vehicle that had just left a gas bar in the west end of the city and the driver was believed to be impaired.

A short while later the male driver, a 43 year Guelph resident was observed driving erratically by Police. The driver was observed speeding, mounting a curb and driving on the grass on Ferguson Street and nearly striking pedestrians.

The driver was not impaired but arrested and charged with several offences.

A 43-year-old Guelph male was charged with Breach Recognizance, Breach Probation x2 and Dangerous Driving and Drive Suspended contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

He was held for a bail hearing.


Impaired driver

At approximately 10:46pm on August 22nd, police stopped a black Acura in the area of Waterloo Avenue and Bristol Street that was driving erratically. Interaction with the driver led to the belief that the male driver may be under the influence of alcohol and that belief was confirmed when he registered a `fail' on an approved roadside screening device. The driver was arrested and transported to the station where he failed additional testing.

Nasir Bromand, a 31 year old resident of Waterloo was charged with operating a motor vehicle over .80mgs and was later released to appear in Guelph court on September 4, 2017.


Wanted driver arrested

Yesterday it was reported that a wanted male fled in his car from police in the area of Gladstone Street and Speedvale Avenue when they attempted to arrest him for outstanding charges Waterloo Regional Police charges.

Just after 10am on August 24th, officers once again located him near his grey Honda civic in the area of Victoria Road and Lawrence Avenue. The male attempted to flee on foot and was quickly taken into custody.

The 44 year old Guelph man is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, and breach of probation. He was held in custody to await a bail hearing on his Guelph charges.


Male who exposed himself arrested

In the late evening hours of August 13th, a male approached female patrons of a south-end plaza and continually tried to engage them in unwanted conversation. After a period of time, the male then exposed himself to the females and when the females threatened to call police, the male left the area.

Investigation led to the identification of the male and at approximately 3am today, police arrested the male at his Guelph residence.

The 40 year old man is charged with an indecent act and criminal harassment. He was held in custody and will appear in bail court today.


Running vehicle stolen

At approximately 6:21am on August 24th a patron of a north-end Tim Horton's parked his red 1988 Chevrolet CZ2 with black convertible roof in the lot and left it running while he went in to get his morning coffee. When he came out a minute or two later, he found that an unknown person had taken the car.
