Fire at 40 Northumberland St

On Aug 29, 2017 at 5:57am the Guelph Fire Department responded to a reported fire at the above noted location. Units from five different stations arrived at the scene and found smoke and flames coming from the roof.

The fire was quickly brought under control and subsequently extinguished. The top floor of the building was evacuated by firefighting crews and then staged in a city bus.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighting staff.

The cause of the fire along with an estimate of damage is still under investigation by Guelph fire investigators who remain on scene at this time.
