Multiple break and enter suspects captured

On November 25, 2017 at approximately 4am, suspects broke into a commercial compound on Silvercreek Parkway North. Police were alerted to the break-in and arrested one suspect a short distance away and continued to search the area for the remaining suspects. Guelph Police Service Dog General tracked a second suspect and arrested him as he tried to hide in a field.

A suspicious vehicle entered into the area during the search and when police stopped it to investigate, the two occupants inside were also involved in the break-in and arrested.

A 31 year old Guelph man was charged with break and enter and two counts of breach probation.

A 32 year old Kitchener man was charged with break and enter, possession of break in instruments, and possession of stolen property.

A 30 year old Guelph woman was charged with break and enter and obstruct police.

A 17 year old Guelph male was charged with break and enter and five counts of breach of probation.

All four of these people were held in custody to appear in bail court.


Fire suspect located

At approximately 2:15am today, there was a fire set in a large construction bin on Carden Street. Guelph Fire attended and quickly put out the fire that is estimated to cost $5000 in damages and cleanup.

The suspect was recorded on video and when police arrived to investigate, the suspect was still in the area and was arrested.

Danny McKinnon, a 50 year old Guelph was charged with arson later released to appear in court in January 2018.


Theft from vehicle suspect arrested

On the morning of November 26th, a Pondview Crescent resident contacted police after a male was confronted and sent on his way when he was seen lingering around a running vehicle in the driveway.

That same male then went through the trunk of another vehicle parked in a driveway on the street. Police arrested the male a short distance away who had property in his possession that was not lawfully issued to him.

The 29 year old Guelph man was charged with two counts of possession of stolen credit card, attempt theft, possession of counterfeit money and two counts of breach of probation. He was held in custody to appear in bail court.


Thefts from vehicles

There were eight incidents reported to police over the weekend where vehicles were entered and wallets, personal papers and personal property was taken.

For the most part, this is a crime that is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible.

Impaired driver

On November 26th at approximately 2:10am, police stopped a red Toyota FRS that was speeding in the area of Woodlawn Road. Interaction with the driver led police to believe that his ability to operate his motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

The driver registered a "fail" on an approved roadside screening device and was arrested. Additional testing at the station also recorded readings above the legal limit.

Darryl Guanzon, 26 year old Guelph man is charged with operate a motor vehicle- over .08mgs. He was later released and will appear in court in January 2018.


Request for witnesses

On November 26, 2017 between 5:30pm and 6pm, a teenage aged female was approached by an unknown male in the area of Downey Road and Ptarmigan Drive. The male began flirting with the girl and asking her questions. He continued to walk with her until she picked up the pace and left him behind her.

The male is described as black, with black curly hair and was in his late teens to early twenties. He was wearing a dark grey hoody.

This is not a criminal investigation but Police would like to identify and speak with this individual.
