RACING CHARGE - HANLON

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) - On Wednesday January 3, 2018 at approximately 8:30 a.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on The Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. The officer observed a female driving a newer model sedan at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least 50 km/h.

23-year-old Atiya Usha PADUM of Cambridge has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on February 7, 2018.*Her driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

RIDE CHECK STOPS ANOTHER DRUNK DRIVER

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) - On Thursday January 11, 2017 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Check on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. At approximately 3:00 a.m. the driver of a grey sedan entered the R.I.D.E. check.

While speaking with the male driver officers formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

22-year-old Michael Gordon DOUGLAS of Guelph has been charged with Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code and with Driving without a Licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on February 6, 2018.

DRIVER CAUGHT WITH DRUGS IN RIDE CHECK

(CITY OF GUELPH) - On Tuesday, January 2, 2018, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check on Highway 6, Guelph.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., the driver of a sedan entered the RIDE check. While speaking with the male driver, officer's detected the odour of fresh marijuana and suspected that he was in possession of a controlled substance. Search incident to arrest revealed that the driver was in possession of marijuana.

19-year-old, Aaron Lee FAIRFIELD, of Guelph was charged with Possession of Marijuana under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Breach of Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on January 30, 2018.
