Man Arrested For Shoplifting $500 Worth Of Merchandise

On December 19th, 2019, at 12:40pm, the Loss Prevention Officer of a grocery store located near the intersection of Paisley Road and Elmira Road South in the City of Guelph observed an adult male shoplift approximately $500 worth of merchandise including multiple cases of beer and meat items. The male left the area before he could be stopped.

On January 6th, 2020, a 42 year old Guelph male was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000.

He will appear in court on February 14th, 2020.

Do You Own This Stolen Property?

On January 7th, 2020, at 5:06pm, members of the Guelph Police Service executed a search warrant at a residence located near the intersection of Elizabeth Street and Stevenson Street North in the City of Guelph. During the course of that warrant, police retrieved a number of items including a BMX bike, SCUBA equipment and a large toolbox, which are believed to be stolen property, but police have not been able to locate the owners. If any of the property located is yours, please contact Detective Constable Trevor Byard at 519 824 1212 ext. 7210 or email him at tbyard@guelphpolice.ca to make arrangements to view the piece of property. If you believe an item is yours you will be required to complete a sworn affidavit stating such before receiving the item.

At 5:42pm, a 25 year old Guelph female was arrested in relation to this incident and charged with:
-Possession Of Stolen Property Under $5,000 x2
-Breach Of Probation x2

She will appear in court on February 28th, 2020.   

Male Arrested For Failing To Attend Court

On November 26th, 2019, an adult male failed to attend court in regards to the following charges:
-Theft Under $5,000
-Assault With Intent To Resist
-Fail To Comply With Undertaking

A bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

Early on the morning of January 8th, 2020, members of the University of Guelph Campus Police located the male and placed him under arrest.

A 40 year old Burlington male has been charged with Fail To Attend Court.

He will appear in court on February 25th, 2020.

Female Arrested For Failing To Attend Court

On December 11th, 2019, an adult female failed to attend court. A bench warrant was issued for her arrest.

On January 7th, 2020, at 11:46am, members of the Guelph Police Service conducted a traffic stop on Speedvale Avenue in the City of Guelph, and observed the female to be sitting in the passenger seat. She was subsequently arrested.

A 52 year old Guelph female has been charged with Fail To Attend Provincial Offence Act Court.

She was held in custody pending a bail hearing on January 8th, 2020.

Multiple Thefts From Vehicles

Some time between 5pm on January 4th and 5pm on January 7th, 2020, a vehicle parked at a residence located near the intersection of Edinburgh Road South and Wellington Street West in the City of Guelph was entered. The vehicle was rummaged through with sunglasses and $10 in loose change being taken.

Some time between 5pm on January 6th and 10am on January 7th, 2020, a vehicle parked at a residence located near the intersection of College Avenue West and Hanlon Parkway in the City of Guelph was entered. The vehicle was rummaged through with a winter hat, collectible coin collection and spare change being taken.

Some time between 9:30pm on January 6th and 8:30am on January 7th, 2020, a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence located near the intersection of Paisley Street and Norfolk Street in the City of Guelph was entered. The vehicle was rummaged through with a gift card and rewards card being taken.

Female Arrested For Failing To Re-Attend Court

On September 6th, 2019, an adult female failed to attend court in regards to the following charges:
-Fail To Comply With Recognizance
-Breach Probation

A bench warrant was issued for her arrest.

On January 6th, 2020, a 30 year old Ingersoll female was arrested and charged with Fail To Re-Attend.

She was held in custody pending a bail hearing on January 7th, 2020.

Electronics Taken During Commercial Break In

Some time over the past weekend, a business located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph was entered. Multiple electronics were taken.

Theft From Vehicle

Some time overnight on January 5th, 2020, a vehicle parked at a residence located near the intersection of Waterloo Avenue and Edinburgh Road South in the City of Guelph was entered. Massage supplies were taken and a pair of coveralls was left behind.
